Calibrate the Autoguider and Start Guiding
|
Unfortunately it is necessary to re-calibrate the autoguider each time that PHD2 is opened. Re-calibration may also be necessary after the mount is slewed to another target object. It will certainly be necessary after a meridian flip.
Using PHD2, select a guide star and initiate the calibration routine. Once the autoguider is calibrated let it track the guide star for a short while to make sure that it is guiding within acceptable limits. Then stop guiding. The reason for this is that the calibration process will probably have shifted the camera's aim slightly.
Use the telescope mount's handbox or SkyTools3 to return the camera's aim to match the target object's imaging map and then re-start PHD2's guiding.
