CCD Camera Imaging Technique

Back
Being new to CCD imaging it may seem presumptuous to describe here the technique that I currently use to image with the Atik 383L+ mono CCD camera. But to some extent it builds on my earlier experience with the GStar-Ex video camera and it does seem to work. Undoubtedly it is not as sophisticated as techniques that other more experienced imagers use. Nevertheless it's possible that you may find something of interest in it.

Determine what to image, when to image it and how to frame the image.

Get the imaging equipment up and running.

Ensure proper alignment of the telescope and camera, set proper focus and initiate auto-tracking

Set capture parameters and monitor results.

Adjust images for inherent camera artefacts.

Enhance the calibrated images to bring out fine detail.
