Set Mount Alignment
|
Switch the mount on and after entering details of the current date and time align the mount using two prominent alignment stars. After slewing to an alignment star use the handbox and the finder 'scope to centre the star in its cross hairs and then centre it in the camera display reticle. Generally a two-star alignment is quite sufficient because when imaging one does not usually want to aim at more than one or two targets in an evening. If possible it is also a good idea to choose as the second alignment star one that is close to the intended imaging target.
If after an imaging session the mount is "parked" in its "home" position before the mount is switched off, on re-starting the mount at a later time it is sufficient to indicate that you want to start from the "home" position. In that case it is not necessary to realign the mount again using alignment stars.
