Shield the Camera and Start Imaging
|
Shielding
The camera is sufficiently sensitive to ambient light that during imaging it needs to be shielded from the glare of the laptop screen, the auxillary screen and the handbox display. Currently this is solved by using dark material to cover the two screens and turning the front of the handbox away from the camera. This is only done after all software preparations have been made.
Imaging
Relocate to the remotely located desktop computer and activate TeamViewer to connect to the laptop in the observatory. The desktop can now be used to monitor both the laptop screen and the auxillary screen and to control all of the software applications on the laptop.
Using Artemis Capture, stop the looping short exposures and start the imaging run from the desktop by using the Sequencer window.
Periodically monitor the PHD2 window to make sure that the autoguider continues to track the guide star satisfactorily. Also it is a good idea to use Windows Explorer to make sure that the image files are being written to the designated folder.
Artemis Capture displays a message when the imaging run is complete.
