Nowadays it is almost inconceivable that amateur astronomy can be enjoyed without using software to some degree or other. Session planning, telescope control, focussing, imaging and image processing software are now essential tools for those planning to image the night sky. Some are bought but many are freely available. Own Software One of the great pleasures this hobby has afforded has been the opportunity to develop small computer programs for the amateur astronomer. For the most part these are small tools that I generated primarily to meet my own needs. |
